Description
Air plants are interesting and easy plants to care for. The silvery leaved varieties require brighter light than the ones that have a less ‘fluffy’ leaf because they tend to come from more desert type environments. The silvery softness is because it is heavily covered in trichomes which trap and absorb water and minerals. As leaf hairs they help to lower the temperature, reflect radiation and decrease water loss.
They all absorb water through their leaves and don’t require soil to grow in unlike other houseplants.
Dunk your air plant to submerge it in RAINWATER not tap water. If you don’t have access to rainwater then you can use a mineral water. Keep them submerged for up to an hour. Shake any excess water off them and prop them upside down until they thoroughly dry then replace them in their home.
If the weather is particularly hot you can mist them as well as watering them to help keep them hydrated. We sell a liquid feed spray for them which you can use alongside your watering regime.
Please note your plant may not look exactly like the one in the photo and the anemone shells are very fragile! The shells can be dunked in water when you water your plant as this will not harm them but handle them carefully.
